Cruise Automation @ The Academy of Sciences

As someone who enjoys not having a car (and walking around the city as much as possible), I’m always excited to see new technologies that can make my getting from point A -> B easier, quicker, and safer
//
Cruise Automation recently hosted an interactive social event at the Academy Sciences showcasing their self-driving car service and fleet of driver-less cars (no more awkward forced conversations with rideshare drivers lol?)
//

I’m a huge fan of biking, “Scoot”ing, and old school scootering around the city (I’m surprised I’ve never seen anyone wipe out on one of those electric scooters)
//
I’m also a big fan of “Uber – pooling”/ carsharing and don’t care to have my own car in the city; so any transportation alternatives that will reduce the number of people just driving themselves around the city has my strong interest

In San Francisco alone, there are 409,000 registered automobiles. If five San Franciscans replaced their car and used Cruise instead, we’d free up space equivalent to a studio apartment. As Cruise expands and private car ownership declines, empty parking spaces can transform into housing or a parklet in Hayes Valley. Choosing to ride in a Cruise has the potential to transform the landscape of our cities (and cut back on pollution!)
//
It was pretty awesome to help an innovative brand that is environmentally focused/conscious showcase their world-changing technology!
